What if????

What if horse trainers became students of the horse?
What if these students stopped placing blame on horses and looked to themselves?
What if horsemen and women truly wanted to get along with every horse that they touched?
What if we looked at a mistake from a horse as a communication break down?

If all of these things came to fruition we would have horsemen and women that are better members of society. True students of the horse are empathetic people capable of very powerful softness. Authenticity above all else. Think of what that could do for the world beyond horses.

  1. What if, after the college students learned from the horses, then they passed that learning along to other people in their lives (like the younger generation). How amazing would that be, and can you imagine what it would look like. From your post, I can. Thank you!!!

  2. Empathy seems like a really important word to describe everything you are questioning here, and I totally agree that bringing more empathy into our world could definitely only make it a better place. It's fascinating to me how much overlap there is in essential elements of both horse training and education.

  3. I have several friends that ride consistently, and from what I've been told, if you don't cultivate a relationship with, and empathize with the horse, why would you expect the horse to feel the same about you? It sounds like a little bit more love and understanding go a long way, and I can see this being true in student-teacher or even administrator - teacher relationships. I also think your last "what if," a mistake as a communication is also insightful for human relationships, as quite often mistakes that are made between two people stem from a miscommunication or misunderstanding.
